Consistency Conditions on S-Matrix of Spin 1 Massless Particles

چکیده
Motivated by new techniques in the computation of scattering amplitudes of massless particles in four dimensions, like BCFW recursion relations, the question of how much structure of the S-matrix can be determined from purely S-matrix arguments has received new attention. The BCFW recursion relations for massless particles of spin 1 and 2 imply that the whole tree-level S-matrix can be determined in terms of three-particle amplitudes (evaluated at complex momenta). However, the known proofs of the validity of the relations rely on the Lagrangian of the theory, either by using Feynman diagrams explicitly or by studying the effective theory at large complex momenta. This means that a purely S-matrix theoretic proof of the relations is still missing. The aim of this paper is to provide such a proof for spin 1 particles by extending the four-particle test introduced by P. Benincasa and F. Cachazo[1] to all particles. We show how n-particle tests imply that the rational function built from the BCFW recursion relations possesses all the correct factorization channels including holomorphic and anti-holomorphic collinear limits. This in turns implies that they give the correct S-matrix of the theory. Email address:[email protected]

Internal Space-time Symmetries of Massless Particles and Neutrino Polarization as a Consequence of Gauge Invariance
There are gauge-transformation operators applicable to massless spin-1/2 particles within the little-group framework of internal space-time symmetries of massive and massless particles. It is shown that two of the SL(2, c) spinors are invariant under gauge transformations while the remaining two are not. The Dirac equation contains only the gauge-invariant spinors leading to polarized neutrinos...

This paper studies the 1-loop approximation for a massless spin-1/2 field on a flat four-dimensional Euclidean background bounded by two concentric 3-spheres, when non-local boundary conditions of the spectral type are imposed. The use of ζ-function regularization shows that the conformal anomaly vanishes, as in the case when the same field is subject to local boundary conditions involving proj...

A ‘covariant’ field that transforms like a relativistic field operator is required to be a linear combination of ‘canonical’ fields that transform like annihilation and creation operators and with invariant coefficients. The Invariant Coefficient Hypothesis contends that this familiar construction by itself yields useful results. Thus, just the transformation properties are considered here, not...
متن کاملPseudoclassical Mechanics for the Spin 0 and 1 Particles
We give an action for the massless spinning particle in pseudoclassical mechanics by using grassmann variables. The constructed action is invariant under τ-reparametrizations, local SUSY and O(N) transformations. After quantization, for the special case N = 2, we get an action which describes the spin 0, 1 particles and topological sectors of the massless DKP theory. A SUSY formulation of the g...
